What are therapy sessions like?

The first couple of sessions are us getting to know one another along with me completing a thorough history. Next, we will develop a treatment plan that helps to guide the sessions in order to keep us on track with improving the issues you present with. My approach is one that includes being direct with my clients but in a compassionate way. I will be forthright in explaining that I am not one of those therapists who stays silent. I enjoy the interactive dialogue very much. I also enjoy the use of the word fuck and use it fairly frequently. I am passionate about creating an atmosphere where you are comfortable enough to share your innermost thoughts and feelings. That includes noise machines, comfortable seating, and soft, intimate lighting.

How long do I need to be in therapy?

This depends on a multitude of factors. Ideally, Iā€™d say a at least a year. On average my clients stay in therapy for around 6-9 months. However, this is not always the norm because I do have clients that have been with me for 18 months plus.

What if I need to reschedule an appointment?

In the event that a scheduled appointment time is missed or cancelled less than 48 hours in advance, I will charge a $65 fee. In the event that you are more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled session, it is also considered a missed or cancelled session.

Are you in-network with any insurance providers?

I am currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield & HealthChoice. I am also contracted with Lyra Health (which is an EAP)

In the effort to maintain transparency I would like to mention that I have plans to slowly transition off of insurance panels. There are several reasons for this. For one, did you know that a healthcare provider has to give a diagnosis to any individual that chooses to use their health insurance? That stays in your medical record. FOREVER. Insurance companies can also dictate the length of treatment, and healthcare providers are required to document why each session meets medical necessity.

I say all this to say that if a person wants to come to therapy, they should be able to come to therapy, without worrying about all the above reasons. I want to work for my clients, not an insurance company.

What are your fees for traditional psychotherapy?

Therapy is an important investment of your time, energy, and finances. The initial intake is $200 for 60-75 minutes. My full fee for the subsequent sessions is $175 for 55-60 minutes.

If your health insurance is used, the fees per session may vary depending on the individual plan. Fees will be discussed in advance, and copays are charged at the time of service.

I also require a card to be kept on file.

What are your fees for the HOCI Intensive?

There is a larger investment involved with an intensive. The cost of the 9 hours of Intensive work is $2,000.

**An intensive is not covered by insurance and would be a completely out of pocket expense.
